For many years, the chairman of Chih Mao Welfare and Charity Foundation has been making donations to the Gan-Lin Social Welfare Foundation to help with the meal delivery services for disadvantaged elders and the disabled. Understanding that elders with limited mobility have difficulty getting meals during the 9 day, Chinese New Year festival, the chairman, together with GRECO delivered 100 sets of new year’s dinners to the elderly living alone. Today (1st), the Executive Officer of the Chih Mao Welfare and Charity Foundation, Mei-Li Yang, on behalf of GRECO and the Chih Mao Welfare and Charity Foundation presented warm care to disadvantaged elderly, and ensured that they will have a warm and happy year of the Monkey.
85 year old Grandpa Lin (pseudonym), from the central area lives on the 5th floor of an old apartment. As the apartment is old, there is no elevator available. In addition, Lin is blind in both eyes, and has serious asthma so is unable to go outside. Consequently, he has not gone outside for nearly 20 years. Ordinarily, the residential service personnel provide services at his home, and the Gan-Lin Social Welfare Foundation delivers meals daily. But except for the volunteers who care for him, he has no relatives that visit him, and even his medication is received by the residential service personnel. His life is quite lonely.
For two consecutive years, the Chih-Mao Foundation has made donations to the Gan-Lin Social Welfare Foundation for services to deliver new year’s meals to the elderly living alone. The Executive Officer of Chih Mao Welfare and Charity Foundation, Mei-Li Yang expressed that Chih Mao Welfare and Charity Foundation hopes that every elderly person can live peacefully in the community, and not have to worry about when they will receive their next meal. This time, GRECO has cooperatively donated 100 sets of new year’s meals to the homes of the elderly living alone; in addition, a lot of GRECO’ partners have also made individual contributions to this new year’s dinner corporate charity event. We would like to thank the Gan-Lin Social Welfare Foundation meal delivery center for their efforts in preparing a wonderful hot pot gathering new year’s meal that allows the elderly living alone to have a warm new year.
Today, the Chih Mao Welfare and Charity Foundation also works together with the Gan-Lin Social Welfare Foundation in the new year’s meal delivery in order to deliver care and love to Grandpa Lin, as well as numerous other elders. When Grandpa Lin received the wonderful new year’s meal, he was extremely thankful and said that he has had many lonely days, and was overwhelmed by the warmth and love of all who visited him during the new year. He also noted that he would really miss such a gathering after it’s done.
The Gan-Lin Social Welfare Foundation provides new year’s meal services to disadvantaged elders and disabled, and each meal is worth $1500 dollars. According to each person's needs, they carefully prepare fresh vegetables, seasoning packages and some nutritional products such as shiitake mushroom, miso chicken, sesame stewed chicken, braised pork meatballs, black garlic chicken soup, steamed buns, rice, and dry noodles. They even supply three-in-one brewing porridge, three-in-one brewing bag, etc., and this will enable the elderly to prepare their own meals the way that they like it. Everyone is always very happy when these meals are delivered!
